My dear Dutch friend, Hans who resides in Belgium, shared with me the other day his frustration with the European failures handling the pandemic crisis, and vaccination's administration.
Although European countries have their hotels and restaurants shut all over the region, and Holland and France have the streakiest restrictive lock downs, Belgium’s most stores were left open.
Thus due to the insistence on maintaining the Schengen “European Open Borders” policies, citizens of the neighboring countries flocked to Belgium’s open stores to recharge on their shopping desires… Along joins the crafty virus, that gets a free hitchhiking pass, over the border-less states, to “happily” propagate, mutate and further spike the spread of contamination… ,,

Furthermore, how frustrating it feels to reside not even 30 minutes drive away from the Pfizer facility location in Puurs Belgium, a town of 17,000 in the Dutch-speaking region of Flanders, from where Hans literally can see trucks loads full with vaccines vials, depart daily, every ten minutes, yet even at his advanced risky age, his Gov can not promise him a vaccine prior to May 2021..

More Than 13 Million Shots were Given by Jan 4th/2021
The biggest vaccination campaign in history has begun.
More than 13 million doses in 33 countries have been administered, according to data collected by Bloomberg.
Delivering billions more will be one of the greatest logistical challenges ever undertaken.
Vaccinations in the U.S. began Dec. 14 with health-care workers, and so far 4.66 million doses have been given, according to a state-by-state tally by Bloomberg and data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Indeed the US has vaccinated now close to 5m and distributed over 20m doses, which reveals getting it distributed is not the problem, but getting it administered is.
Part of the problem is the multitude of rule implementation at the state and local levels about who gets it after the elderly.
Shamefully the death tall in the allegedly world's most advanced supper power, is out of control. Over 380K dead since March 2020 with California,Texas Florida and NY states in the lead.
Coronavirus in Israel: Rising Cases amidst Massive Vaccination Campaign
The Israel Health Ministry said that 5,135 new coronavirus cases were diagnosed by Jan 7th.. 731 patients are in serious condition, of whom 201 are ventilated.
The official death toll has reached 3,671.
At the same time, 20% of the Israeli population received the first dose of the vaccination shots including medical personnel, as well as over 60% of those over 60, who make up nearly 80% of the serious cases.

The Debate on administering one or two vaccine doses, also takes place in Israel.

When the vaccination efficiency is 70-85% after the first injection, then by injecting only one injection to a million people >700,000 are protected , which brings us closer to herd immunity, and decreases hospital Corona loads. With two injections 495,000 are protected . Pfizer made a mistake (in hindsight) by not having a treatment arm in their Phase III clinical trials that gives injection #2 after 6-9 months to accommodate predictable vaccine shortages .
The bureaucratic arguments that are used are :
“2 doses is what was demonstrated to work “ and : that’s what the FDA approved “ are typical “ liability” arguments by non-experts that portray themselves as experts .
The British Empire that led the establishment of the field of public health during their colonial rule had the courage to apply scientific immunology principles and extensive experience in “ booster injections “ in other vaccines given 3-6-9 months after the first .
David’s first hand experience with the British MOH is consistent with advanced scientific thinking, where as the EU focuses on compliance, the FDA tops them by an order of magnitude .
Giving one injection is consistent with understanding the immune system memory, and has a small reversible risk, dwarfed by the big risk of infection contamination.
